I’m inspired by the raw energy, grass roots approach and authenticity of graffiti, punk rock music and the entire DIY ethos. With its humanity and flawed immediacy.
When working on these pieces I feel a visceral connection with the process of making and I am trying to show that in the work.
I explore themes, images and ideas of our culture that inspire me, experimenting with bold simple shape languages. I want my paintings to look like they are made with paint and to express the process in their creation as much or perhaps more than to simple represent.
My hopes are, like an archeologist’s dig, the process and efforts shine through in the cracks and if you look just right, can see the hints at what came before.
